Minister of Works, David Umahi, has inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the New Carter Bridge and rehabilitation of the Iddo Bridge in Lagos, assuring that efforts are being intensified to complete the projects ahead of schedule. Umahi said the inspection of the New Carter Bridge was undertaken following a request by the National Assembly, given the strategic importance of the bridge to Lagos and the country’s transportation network. The Eye Bank for Restoring Sight Nigeria has unveiled veteran actress and philanthropist, Joke Silva, as its Brand Ambassador, as part of efforts to increase public awareness and encourage cornea donation across the country. The Lagos State Government has restated its commitment to tackle persistent power outages, with plans to increase electricity supply to about 3,500 megawatts (MW) through coordinated improvements in generation, transmission, distribution and metering.
