The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced that the state government received a new set of twenty four-car trains to strengthen the Lagos Red Line fleet. According to him, the twenty four-car trains would improve capacity, reduce wait times and make daily commuting easier for Lagosians. “This will improve capacity, shorten travel times, and improve daily commuting for Lagosians”, Sanwo-Olu said. President Bola Tinubu has assented to the 2026 Appropriation Bill, approving a total expenditure of ₦68.32 trillion for the fiscal year. The President also signed into law an extension of the 2025 Budget implementation from March 31, 2026, to June 30, 2026. The N68.32 trillion budget for this year earmarks N4.799 trillion for statutory transfers and N15.8 trillion for debt service. It allocates N15.4 trillion to recurrent expenditure and N32.2 trillion to the Development Fund for Capital Expenditure. The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed two properties and arrested multiple offenders in Alimosho Local Government Areas during intensified night and day enforcement raids targeting illegal dumping and drainage abuse. The operation, led by LAWMA’s Project W.I.S.E (West) team, swept through Ikotun and adjoining Local Council Development Areas, focusing on indiscriminate disposal, illegal dumpsites, and waste discharged into drains.
