The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has retracted its earlier statement accusing the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, of advocating a minimum tuition fee of one million naira. In a statement signed by its President, Akinteye Afeez, NANS said further clarification and fact-finding showed that Olatunji-Bello’s remarks had been misconstrued and taken out of context. Lagos State University (LASU) has retained its position as the Overall Best University in West Africa in the 2026 UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings, while making a significant leap to 493rd position globally. The Federal Government has announced plans to modernise six major seaports across Nigeria as part of efforts to reduce cargo-handling delays, lower logistics costs and strengthen the country’s trade competitiveness. The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation advises the public to beware of fraudulent text messages and malicious links claiming recipients have committed traffic offences. ​Members of the public are urged not to click on unverified links, share personal details, or make payments on third-party platforms, as these are malicious attempts to steal sensitive personal and banking information. ​Additionally, the public should note that these fraudulent platforms often entice motorists by offering fine discounts. Lagos State does not offer discounts on traffic penalties across any of its platforms; all official statutory fines are strictly fixed.

The Lagos State Government has appealed to motorists to exercise patience following severe traffic congestion along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, caused by a fallen truck and ongoing rehabilitation work at the Kara Bridge. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa, said the fallen truck had been evacuated by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA.
