The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sworn in seven Permanent Secretaries and five members of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, charging them to discharge their duties with seriousness, independence, and a clear focus on improving Lagosians’ quality of life.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony held at the Lagos House Ikeja, the Governor congratulated the new appointees saying they would now anchor the THEMES agenda, every aspect of which flows through the ministries and agenciesin the commitment of his administration.
“First, results. Lagos does not pay salaries for processes; it invests in outcomes, I will be looking at what changes in the lives of ordinary Lagosians as a result of decisions made in your offices to establish clear performance benchmarks in the early weeks of your assumption of duty, and I expect you to be held to them” he said.
He also announced Doctor Kayode Oguntimehin as the Chairman of Lagos State Health Service Commission urging the appointees to establish clear performance benchmarks, make integrity their watchwords, sustain the leadership culture while being diligent, efficient and responsive in bringing positive changes in the lives of Lagosians.
“Public office in Lagos must not be a route to private enrichment, the era of government officials who confuse stewardship with ownership are behind us, and it must remain behind us, I expect absolute probity in your handling of public resources” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
According to the Governor ‘Any conduct that embarrasses this administration, compromises our procurement processes, or betrays the trust of the people will be met with the full consequences that the law provides”.
“The tone in a ministry is set from the top. If you are efficient, your teams will be efficient. If you are responsive, your agencies will be responsive. If you are fair and courageous in your decisions, those beneath you will follow that example, you now have the power to build, or to erode, the institutional culture in your domain I charge you to build”.
In a vote of assurance, the new appointees, thanked the Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve while pledging to discharge their duties efficiently in a bid to further move the state to a greater height.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro said the appointment of members of the commission and Permanent Secretaries known as the G7 was based on sustained tradition of equity and transparency, urging them to make positive impacts towards the development of the state.
The New Permanent Secretaries were assigned to various ministries which included Busola Durodola,(Local Government Service Commission, Olubunmi Oladeji, (Cabinet Office) Tiwalade Shorongbe, (Innovation, Science and Technology) among others.
