Ilishan-Remo; Babcock University is set to host its Innovation Ventures Summit 2026, unveiling plans for a world-class innovation hub aimed at positioning Nigeria as a continental leader in technology and AI.
The two-day summit will convene government officials, corporate executives, investors, researchers, and students for high-level sessions on innovation, artificial intelligence, and Nigeria’s digital economy.
At the core of the event holding on April 21–22, is the university’s plan to build an ecosystem modeled on global innovation clusters, a hub for research, startup incubation, industry partnerships, and commercialization of ideas.
The University leadership framed the project as a national imperative, not just an institutional goal. “Nigeria stands at a defining moment.
“The global economy is being reshaped by innovation, AI, and digital transformation. Nations that fail to act decisively risk being left behind,” the university said in a statement. “This summit is a call to action: to build, to collaborate, and to lead.”
The proposed hub is designed to bridge academia and enterprise, turning student and faculty ideas into market solutions while powering job creation and economic growth. Organizers point to Nigeria’s youth population and expanding digital landscape as critical timing.
“We have the talent, the ideas, and the energy. What we need is a coordinated ecosystem that transforms these into globally competitive innovations. That is what this hub represents,” a summit organizer said.
The agenda includes keynotes, panels, live tech demos, and deal-making sessions focused on emerging technologies, startup ecosystems, policy, and investment. Organizers say the goal is to lock in concrete pathways for funding, infrastructure, and policy support.
Babcock is calling for stakeholders strategic partnerships to shape the ecosystem, financial investment for infrastructure and programs, technical expertise for R&D, policy support to enable growth, and active participation beyond the summit.
“This is not just about attending an event; it is about co-creating the future,” the statement said. “We invite all who believe in the promise of Nigeria to join us in building a hub that will not only serve this nation but command global relevance.”
The university expects the summit to draw national and international attention, placing Babcock and Nigeria at the centre of Africa’s innovation conversation.
“As anticipation builds, one message rings clear: the future will not wait and neither should Nigeria.”
