The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described his Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Egube, as a cerebral, competent, dependable allied and competent Nigerian who had displayed the highest level of professionalism both in the private and public sectors.
Sanwo-Olu made the declaration at a reception organised by Urhobo and Isoko elites in Lagos to celebrate the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, for his contributions to governance and public service.
He restated that excellence, competence and integrity not ethnic background remain the defining principles for leadership appointments in his administration.
Sanwo-Olu said Egube’s appointment and continued rise in government were based solely on his professionalism, sound judgment and proven ability to deliver results.
According to the Governor, Egube has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, first as Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, where he drove people-focused budgeting and measurable performance, and now as Deputy Chief of Staff, coordinating the Governor’s engagements and ensuring effective administration of the Governor’s Office.
He described Egube as a dependable adviser whose integrity and competence have earned his confidence over more than two decades of friendship and professional association.
The Governor said while the event celebrated one of the Urhobo nation’s finest sons, it also underscored the fact that outstanding performance transcends ethnic and regional identities.
“We don’t ask where excellence comes from. What matters is the ability to do the job well and serve the people faithfully,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Responding, Egube expressed appreciation to the Urhobo and Isoko elites for the honour, describing it as a source of encouragement to remain committed to excellence in public service.
He said the recognition should inspire young Nigerians to pursue success through discipline, resilience, integrity and productivity, regardless of their background geographic reference.
Government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, family members and associates, celebrated Egube’s achievements and his contributions to the development of Lagos State.
The Convener of the Urhobo and Isoko Elites in Lagos, Olorogun Nan Okiro appreciated Egube for his resilience and enduring legacy thanking him for representing the people with honour and distinction as the people celebrate excellence praying that God would continue to guide and lead him.
Chairman of the occasion, Olorogun Moses-Tiga, said the day is a celebration of excellence, legacy, leadership and integrity saying his journey is one of resilience, professionalism, discipline, trust and impeccable character as he had rendered exceptional services in various capacity both in the financial sector and government.
The event featured musical interlude, cultural performance, the presentation of plaque, Award recognition, “Leadership Excellence Award”, to the celebrant and commemorative brochure, among other programmes had in attendance states governments officials and the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal.
