Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended security agencies for the massive onslaught against criminal networks in Lagos and Ogun States, following the success of the joint crackdown, Operation Kosaye.
The coordinated operation has delivered significant results in the last phase which included 88 suspects arrested, 4 suspects killed in a gun duel with operatives, 5 kidnapped victims rescued as well as a cache of arms and ammunition recovered.
Reacting to the development, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the commitment of security personnel and reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain efforts aimed at protecting lives and property.
“We will continue to work with the police and other security agencies to ensure that our state is safe and secure for residents and visitors,” Sanwo-Olu said.
“We appreciate the huge efforts of the police, as directed by Inspector-General, Tunji Disu, in arresting the suspects, and the cooperation of our neighbours in Ogun State. This is the way it should be,” he added.
“The Lagos and Ogun Police Commands had displayed recovered weapons and paraded suspects a clear signal, officials said, that criminal elements will find no refuge in the two states.”
The police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that kidnappers and other criminals have no safe haven through sustained intelligence-led operations and strategic security interventions.
He said Operation Kosaye, meaning “no space for criminals” in Yoruba, reflects a renewed, no-nonsense push to dismantle kidnapping rings, armed robbery gangs, and other violent crime networks in the Southwest. Operatives are currently combing forest boundaries along the J3/J4 axis of Ogbere in Ogun State as part of the sustained operation.
“The Police remain resolute in ensuring there is no hiding place for criminals, especially kidnappers, through intelligence-led operations and sustained security efforts,” a statement from the Commands said.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Lagos residents to continue providing timely information on criminal hideouts. “We will do our best to ensure that our law enforcement agencies are well motivated through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF,” he said.
