Lagos State University, LASU, has dissociated itself from a viral flyer promoting a purported “Official Sign-Out Party” for graduating students, warning that the event is unauthorized and the Vice-Chancellor’s image was used without consent.
The flyer, which circulated on social media, announced the party for Thursday, 19 June 2026, from 8:00 p.m. till dawn at Don J Hotel, Igboelerin and it also featured the photograph and name of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.
In a statement issued by the Centre for Information and Public Relations, LASU said neither the Vice-Chancellor nor the university has any involvement, knowledge, or affiliation with the event.
LASU’s Management stressed that the use of Professor Olatunji-Bello’s image and name was done without approval.

“The University Management wishes to state unequivocally that the event is not an official university program and is not endorsed or supported by the University,” the statement read.
LASU urged graduating students, parents, and the public to disregard the flyer.
The University also said it will not be held liable for any security breaches, financial losses, or adverse incidents that may result from attending the event.
The disclaimer was signed by the Deputy Registrar/Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Lagos State University, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile.
Students are also advised to verify all sign-out activities through official LASU channels to avoid scams and security risks.
