The West African Examinations Council, WAEC Nigeria, has debunked a fraudulent letter circulating online claiming it had ordered the deployment of police and NSCDC officers to all WASSCE centers from June 1, 2026.
In a disclaimer issued by the Council, WAEC said the letter, dated May 27, 2026 with reference L/SED/12/DIST/VOL.4/460 and addressed to “The Proprietor/Principal of Schools,” did not originate from the Council.
The forged document also carried a fake signature purported to be that of the Senior Deputy Registrar/Head, Test Administration, Mr. S.D. Kum.WAEC stated categorically that it has not issued any directive for the “comprehensive deployment” of security personnel to individual examination centers as claimed in the letter.
Acting Head, Public Affairs WAEC, Yaba, Lagos, Moyosola Adesina said the Council described the document as the work of mischief-makers and fraudsters seeking to create panic, disrupt the ongoing examination, and mislead school authorities, parents, and candidates.
WAEC advised all school proprietors, principals, supervisors, invigilators, parents, and the public to disregard the letter in its entirety.The Council also wished all registered candidates for the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates success in their preparations and the examination.
