The Lagos State Government has provided twenty million Naira in financial support to twenty disability groups to aid advocacy and awareness campaigns for the 2026 International Disability Days.
At the presentation held at the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, LASODA, General Manager, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, said the funding was part of the government’s ongoing commitment to protect and advance the rights of persons with disabilities.
According to Oyetunde-Lawal, “Each beneficiary received one million naira” She said “Recipients included the Lupus Foundation, Dwarf group, the Hearing Impaired Cluster for the Deaf, and the Spinal Cord Injury Association Lagos.”
Oyetunde-Lawal said the support would help amplify advocacy efforts and foster greater understanding of disability issues across the state.
The General Manager of LASODA urged the groups to ensure the funds were used to benefit their members.
She added that the state government remained committed to promoting inclusion and expanding opportunities for persons with disabilities in line with its broader social protection agenda.
The beneficiaries thanked the government for the continued support, saying it would enhance their welfare programmes and strengthen outreach to members.
