Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has described the All Progressives Congress presidential primary as peaceful and transparent, following his participation at Ward E3, Adeniji Adele on Lagos Island.
Sanwo-Olu voted alongside his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and commended APC officials, party members, and INEC personnel for the orderly conduct of the exercise.
He said the direct primary system gave grassroots members a direct role in choosing the party’s presidential candidate.
The exercise took place simultaneously across Lagos State’s 245 wards and other states. By the time the governor cast his ballot, 1,887 party members had voted at his ward, a figure he said reflected confidence in the APC and the democratic process.
“The patience and peaceful conduct of voters, along with the seamless coordination, show the organisational strength of our party,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He added that the turnout demonstrated members’ commitment to internal democracy.
Earlier in the day, the Governor accompanied President Bola Tinubu to vote at Ward L2, Ikoyi-Obalende in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism that the outcome of the primary would strengthen party unity and position the APC for continued electoral success nationally.
Party supporters and residents gathered at polling venues across Lagos, with security personnel maintaining order throughout the exercise.
