Distinct Identities, Governance Remain-Both Registrars.
Lagos – Lagos State University (LASU) and the Federal University of Science and Technology (FUSTECH), Epe, have dismissed claims that LASU’s Epe campus has been converted into the new federal institution, calling the circulating notice false and misleading.
In a joint statement, both registrars, clarified that LASU Epe Campus remains fully operational under LASU and continues to house the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, School of Agriculture, Pre-Degree Studies Programme, Sandwich Degree Programme, and other academic and research centres.
FUSTECH is a newly established federal university. To support its smooth take-off, LASU agreed to share some facilities and infrastructure at the Epe campus on an interim basis, pending FUSTECH’s relocation to its permanent site.
“Each institution retains its distinct identity, governance structure, and academic operations,” the statement read. “Lagos State University, Epe Campus, has not been converted into Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe.”
The management urged the public, prospective candidates, parents, and stakeholders to disregard the misleading notice and rely only on official communications from both institutions.
“Both universities remain committed to academic excellence and to guiding all stakeholders appropriately at all times,” the statement added.
The release was signed by Emmanuel Fanu, Registrar of Lagos State University, and Kabiru Okugbesan, Registrar of Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe.
