Babcock University has inducted Seventy three graduates into the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), reinforcing its drive to professionalize teaching and raise classroom accountability.
The 6th induction ceremony, held at the main campus in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, marks the graduates’ formal entry into Nigeria’s regulated teaching profession.
Babcock President/Vice-Chancellor, Professor Afolarin Ojewole, praised the inductees for their resilience through training.
“This is a milestone that not only celebrates your academic achievements but your readiness to shape minds, mould character, and build the future of our nation,” he said.
Professor Ojewole commended TRCN’s regulatory role and the Federal Government’s focus on education as a pillar of national development, saying the University remains committed to partnering with government-regulated bodies like TRCN to elevate standards across Nigeria’s education system.
Administering the oath of allegiance, TRCN Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Doctor Ronke Soyombo, charged the new teachers to see the profession as a calling built on integrity, passion, and compassion.
“Teaching is the profession that guards all others; producing judges, engineers, leaders, and senators,” she stated.
“We are looking for teachers who will not only be hardworking, but work smart, Your work is going to fill a large part of your life. The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work, and the only way to do great work is to love what you do,” Doctor Soyombo told inductees.
Dean of the Joel Awoniyi School of Education and Humanities, Professor Olubunmi Idowu, also said TRCN’s standardization is critical to improving learning outcomes nationwide.
She described the ceremony as a transition from learners to “custodians of knowledge, truth, and servants of humanity.
By aligning with TRCN, Babcock aims to produce teachers who are academically sound and ethically grounded, positioning education as the bedrock of national development and leadership formation.
