The Lagos State Government says it has delivered the highest number of road infrastructure projects under any administration in recent years, completing 362 roads spanning 347.17 kilometres since 2019.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engineer Olufemi Daramola, said this at the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing marking the third year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat’s second term.
Daramola said the administration is set to commission 12 newly completed roads while work continues at full pace on 181 other road and bridge projects across the state’s Western, Central and Eastern districts.
He said major projects completed and delivered were the Opebi–Mende Link Bridge and Approach Roads, Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road, formerly Dopemu Road, in Agege; Abaranje Road in Alimosho; and network upgrades in Ikeja, Lagos Island/Eti-Osa, Kosofe, Somolu/Bariga, Epe and Badagry. Badagry axis projects include Aradagun, Mosafejo, Ajido, Imeke Road and Hospital Road Phase Two.
Daramola said 130 additional roads covering 113.25 kilometres were completed since the last ministerial briefing, alongside strategic bridges and transport projects aimed at cutting travel time, improving safety and boosting economic activity.
He noted that the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway from Admiralty to Epe was rehabilitated and upgraded to support access to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Dangote Refinery and other industries.
Work also continues on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and Lekki-Epe Expressway, key highways for trade between Lagos, Nigeria and West African neighbours.
To open up communities and reduce gridlock, Daramola said the government completed several link roads with bridges, including Abiola-Onijemo in Ifako-Ijaiye; Obafemi Dada in Alimosho; Arowojobe in Kosofe; and Samuel Ekundayo, Imeke-Ajido-Aradagun in Badagry.
“The projects replaced makeshift canal crossings in flood-prone areas and resolved perennial flooding” he said.
On Urban regeneration push, he said the state also advanced urban regeneration in Ikeja GRA, Ikoyi and Lagos Island. Roads delivered under the programme include Oduduwa Way, Oduduwa Crescent, Oba Dosunmu, Sobo Arobiodu and Sasegbon in Ikeja; Macpherson, Oyinkan Abayomi, Femi Okunnu, Ilabere, Ilu, Inupa, Kuramo and Adeyemi Lawson in Ikoyi; and Adeniji Adele, Okepopo, Tapa, Idumagbo, Ojo Giwa, Iga Iduganran and Oroyinyin on Lagos Island.
Daramola said the government is focused on “resilient infrastructure” rather than just asphalt. “We are investing in infrastructure that supports economic competitiveness, enhances connectivity and improves daily life for over 20 million Lagosians,” he stated.
“Strategic projects at advanced stages include Igbogbo-Bola Ahmed Tinubu-Igbe Road and Agric-Isawo-Konu-Arepo Road” The Special Adviser stated.
Speaking on Maintenance and digital infrastructure, he said the Lagos State Public Works Corporation intervened on 957 roads from June 2025 to date, bringing total interventions to 4,209 roads covering 506km since 2019.
He also said LASIMRA recorded a 300% increase in revenue during the review period through better regulatory compliance and digital initiatives.
According to him, “The agency is facilitating 30,000km of fibre duct deployment to expand broadband and smart-city connectivity.”
Despite challenges of climate change, flooding, rising construction costs and vandalism, Daramola said the administration remains committed to delivering world-class infrastructure. Daramola thanked Lagosians, partners, contractors and the media, and urged residents to protect public assets.
He listed 12 roads billed for commissioning to include Opebi-Mende Link Bridge and Approach Roads, Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road, Agege, Abaranje Road, Alimosho, Abiola-Onijemo Link Road, Ifako-Ijaiye, Obafemi Dada Link Road, Alimosho, Arowojobe Link Road, Kosofe, Samuel Ekundayo Road, Badagry, Imeke-Ajido-Aradagun Road, Badagry.
Among the projects were, Hospital Road Phase II, Badagry, St. Finbars Road, Surulere, Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway, Admiralty–Epe Section and Selected Ikeja GRA regeneration roads.
